The first meeting of the Assembly’s Broadcasting Committee was held at the Senedd yesterday. (Monday April 14th)

The Committee’s role is to investigate and report on the future of public service broadcasting in Wales in the English and Welsh languages and the impact of digital switchover on programming and digital content from Wales and in Wales.

Following the election of the chair; the committee, comprising Peter Black, Alun Davies, Paul Davies and Nerys Evans, received presentations from Ofcom, and two organisations involved in digital switchover, Wesley Clover Corporation and Inuk Networks

Alun Davies AM, who was elected as Chair of the Committee said: “I am delighted to be chairing the new Broadcasting Committee. Digital switchover is an issue that will affect every household in Wales in the very near future; therefore it is essential that we explore all the possible implications for the public and for public sector broadcasting as a whole. I look forward to carrying out a thorough and comprehensive inquiry with my colleagues"
